From Barcelona to Tibidabo

We will visit an authentic palace and we walk through the green hills of Collserola to the highest point of Barcelona. During our trip you will enjoy splendid views and the guide will share the secrets of mysterious places that are now covered by the forest of Collserola.

Tour details

We start our tour in the neighbourhood of Montbau, where nature is resisting against the advancing city.

First we visit the impressive gardens of a 19th century palace and next we walk uphill through a forest where wild pigs have their hiding place. At a height of 300 metres we will have splendid views of both the inland of Catalonia (including Montserrat and with bright weather the Pyrenees mountains) and the city of Barcelona itself.

During this trip we will pass some mysterious places of which the guide will reveal its secrets. In the last stage of the tour we walk through the dense forest before we reach Tibidabo, the highest point of Barcelona at 512 metres above sea level. Having enjoyed the magnificent views from here we walk downhill to Barcelona.

We will pass the house of the Aldaya family at the Tibidabo avenue from the famous book The shadow of the wind from Carlos Ruiz Safon where we will take the subway to guide you back to the centre of the city.

Duration

The tour starts at 10:00 am. The duration is approx. 4 hours from the starting point at subway station Montbau, including some short breaks.

Tour difficulty

The trail is unpaved, but in general quite easy for persons with a good condition. Normal walking shoes are recommended. During the tour we walk gradually from 100 metres to 500 metres above sea level, so persons with heart problems are advised not to take this tour.

The inner self

During our trip you will have the possibility to have some short breaks in order to have a snack or drink. Nevertheless we recommend to take a bottle of water with you and some sandwiches. A lunch-kit can be prepared on request.

Starting point.

We will meet and start at subway station Montbau. This subway station can easily be reached within 15 minutes from the centre by subway line 3 (L3, the green line). You can take this line at central locations like Plaza Catalunya, Diagonal, Liceu or Plaza Espanya. At the end of the trip we will bring you back with the subway to Plaza Catalunya.
